• CareWell Services Southwest – Contact Karla Fales @ 269-441-0930 CareWell Services – Resource Call Center @ 269-441-0930 helps determine critical and emergent needs related to obtaining food, medication, personal care and hygiene items for seniors sheltering in place, as well as individuals and families who are quarantined or under isolation. All deliveries are made without contact by vetted volunteers who have appropriate personal protection equipment. Seniors and caregivers can also obtain referrals for food boxes, House Calls Telephone Reassurance Program, Personal Emergency Response Program, utility and emergency assistance; Medicare/Medicaid Assistance, care management and other services in Barry and/or Calhoun counties. 
  • CareWell has Quarantine boxes available. They supply two meals per day for 10 days for two people.  They contain pantry items like pasta, canned goods, beans, rice, oatmeal, soups and other similar items. The boxes also include recipes. Priority is given for seniors and disabled individuals, but if those who are in need of food outside of these groups are not denied. Each box weighs 26 pounds. Supply is limited.

• New information on Prisoner Release: Offenders who are positive with Covid 19 or waiting on test results will not be paroled. Those who have had close contact with COVID-19 will be released to a private home and will self-quarantine. MDOC will be releasing approx. 130 prisoners this week.

• CityLinC’s modest basement is the assembly area for the school supplies we are giving away. For $5.00 we can provide a child with a Draw-String Bag filled with crayons, pencils, glue, notebook paper, pencil sharpener, erasers, construction paper, activity book, and a CityLinC 2020 calendar. • CareWell Services, Karla Fales @ 269-441-0930, is requesting donations from any faith-based organization with members who can make masks or would like to donate funds to the purchasing of material to make masks for Senior Citizens and other persons of vulnerable populations. If interested, contact CareWell Services or bring your donations to 200 W. Michigan (Kool Family Building) and drop off your donations in the large parking lot in back of the building. Go past the double doors by the large pillars and there will be a yellow mailbox there to receive your donation from 8:30 to 4:30. Please place the material in a gallon sized bag. 
• “Thanks, and Encouragement” to Nursing Homes arranged by Pastor Ellie Easley. Pastor Easley is requesting churches, organizations and /or individuals to take Nursing Home assignments to write and send Thank you cards and encouragement messages to staff and residents alike. There are still two area nursing homes that need to be sponsored. For more information call Pastor Easley 269-599-9340.
• CCFBC is planning to have a substantive conversation with Leaders/Stakeholders of the various Calhoun County Area School Boards, Education Leaders, Faith Leaders, and Health Departmental Leaders concerning: Back to School Plans, Testing of Students, Associated Cost, Location of Testing Sites, and Types of Testing (Standardization of Test).

• Battle Creek Unlimited (BCU) – through the generosity of Consumers Energy and W. K. Kellogg Foundation – has expanded the Battle Creek Area COVID-19 Microgrant Fund to assist small businesses and nonprofits negatively affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The program is an extension of BCU’s previous microgrant fund to aid distressed small businesses and nonprofits in the corporate limits of the City of Battle Creek. With additional contributions, grants may be awarded in the City of Springfield or the charter townships of Bedford, Emmett or Pennfield in addition to the City of Battle Creek.  
  • ELIGIBILITY The program is intended to alleviate economic distress for eligible applicants and their contributions employees on an interim basis until State or Federal programs are available (SBA loans and/or other State or Federal programs). Applicants must fall within the following criteria of eligibility: Operate within the corporate limits of the cities of Battle Creek or Springfield. Operate within the corporate limits of the charter townships of Bedford, Emmett or Pennfield. Have 15 employees or fewer. Have annual revenue of $1 million or less. • Developed by the Pure Michigan Business Connect program of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, the platform is open to companies of all sizes and industries statewide, according to a Wednesday, May 27 announcement. Mark Burton, CEO of the MEDC, said the platform will serve as a critical tool in supporting economic recovery efforts across the state. “This next phase builds on successful efforts through PMBC to support the production of more than 5.5 million individual PPE supplies in Michigan as well as connect health and human service needs in the fight against COVID-19 with Michigan businesses providing critical supplies,” Burton said.  The online portal can be accessed at Michiganbusiness.org/ppe. Businesses in need of equipment, as well as businesses with goods and services to help safeguard employees and customers, are encouraged by the state to submit their information on the portal.
